Sunday, December 1, 2024, was a special day—the world premiere of IBIS ESCARLATE – The Flight of the Guará, performed by the Cubatão Symphonic Band under the baton of Maestro Roberto Farias.
Art and culture are hallmarks of the city of Cubatão, and once again, this was evident as the ensemble prepared a demanding repertoire in an impressively short rehearsal period, featuring two premieres, including my own.
This concert fostered meaningful encounters that enriched the occasion even further. Among them, I had the honor of meeting Composer, Chancellor, and Immortal of the Academy of Music of Brazil, Maestro Roberto Farias, as well as Musicologist, Federal Honorary Chancellor, and President of the Academy of Music of Brazil, Dr. Luis Roberto Von Stecher Trench, who delivered a speech before the premiere on the cultural significance of the city and the work itself.
I was also honored to receive a Diploma of Artistic Merit for the composition of IBIS ESCARLATE.
We move forward into 2025 with hope for more music, more art, and more culture—what our country truly needs. Like the Red Guará, we remain resilient, looking ahead to even brighter days!
